Solar supports craftsmen with a commerce app that provides a platform and database to search and filter through more than 200,000 products. By looking at price ranges and making personal itinerary lists for specific projects or favorite products they can make more informed and accurate choices. In addition to this, the new AI Assistant can be leveraged on the job to add ease to complex environments.

Searching a catalogue of 200,000 products (700,000 units available) to specifically find the one you need can be a challenge. In our collaborative efforts with Solar we constantly work on improving the digital experience and productivity for craftspeople. A real challenge for tradespeople using a phone is the need to wear gloves or having dirt on their hands. The AI assistant removes this barrier by taking away the need to accurately spell words overlooking misspellings and focusing further on intent.
Solar’s AI function supports voice activation to describe products and search. The AI assistant is a conversational chat interface. Through natural language search, it is now easier than ever to find a product. Instead of searching, filtering, and clicking, users in the app can now simply describe their needs and the AI will find products for them.

Compare products with AI
It does not end there, the AI assistant can also be leveraged to understand finer product details, even compare products, aiding more informed buying decisions. By being able to prompt for detailed information and add the desired products to their cart the user makes more accurate choices saving time in the process.
This is a new way of interacting and buying products in an app and resembles the experience you would get in a store. One of our key motivations for creating this feature is both making products discoverable but also ensuring further accessibility to Solar’s product portfolio with the conversational chat interface.

Delivered via GPS location within an hour
The Solar app further acts as a companion. Users can drive directly to a new task and initiate Solar’s Fastbox function from which you can have your products delivered within one hour saving time. The specialized product range for fast delivery is determined by the GPS location of the user, ensuring that only products in stock from the local warehouse are presented.
Through the digital presence and successful user adoption, Solar gets the opportunity to significantly reduce its costs for operating physical stores while simultaneously benefiting the environment. A digital ambition and market position that differentiates Solar from the remaining players in the market.
