Harry Reid International Airport is the primary gateway to Las Vegas, serving nearly 55 million passengers annually. As one of the busiest airports in the United States, it handles a uniquely high volume of destination-driven traffic from across the globe, with travelers arriving for tourism, entertainment, and major international events.

Operating in a city defined by experience, speed, and scale, the airport plays a critical role in shaping visitors’ first and last impressions of Las Vegas. This requires a high demand on its digital ecosystem to deliver clear, real-time information while reflecting the energy and identity of a world-class destination.

As part of its digital strategy, Harry Reid International Airport set out to modernize its online presence to better serve passengers, empower internal teams, and support long-term scalability with a new future-ready website.

Framna partnered with LAS to design and build a modern, scalable digital platform that improves passenger experience and streamlines internal processes. This case outlines the challenges, approach, and results of that transformation.

The challenge

Harry Reid International Airport needed a digital presence that could continue to meet the scale of its operations and the expectations of its passengers.

With millions of travelers moving through the airport every year, the digital experience had to make essential information easy to access, support fast and flexible content updates, and reflect the character of Las Vegas more clearly. It also needed to give internal teams a stronger foundation to manage and evolve the platform over time.

For an airport operating in a high-traffic, high-expectation environment, the challenge was not simply to redesign a website. It was to build a digital platform that could support operational complexity while feeling clear, accessible and connected to the destination it represents.

Designing for clarity and character

Framna worked closely with airport stakeholders to define a user-centered vision for the new platform. Through onsite workshops and research, both teams aligned on a clear direction: combine the clarity of a professional aviation interface with the unmistakable identity of Las Vegas.

That balance became central to the design approach. Passengers need to access essential information quickly, especially in moments where timing, orientation and confidence matter. At the same time, Harry Reid International Airport is not a neutral transit point. It is the digital gateway to a city built around experience.

To support that balance, the team conducted content audits, defined tone-of-voice guidelines and developed prototypes that were iterated with stakeholders. The design system was shaped around clear information hierarchy, accessibility and scalability, while visual exploration focused on where personality could be introduced through imagery, motion and micro-interactions.

The result is a design system that prioritizes essential information, supports accessibility and brings the Las Vegas identity into the experience in a controlled and intentional way. The platform is dependable where it needs to be and distinctive where it can be.

Building a scalable digital foundation

In parallel, the platform was rebuilt from the ground up. The previous on-premises solution was replaced with a modern cloud architecture on AWS, enabling high availability, security and scalability.

Framna’s Digital Airport Platform serves as the foundation of the website and gives internal teams the ability to manage content independently. Integrated single sign-on supports secure and seamless access for airport staff. The new platform introduces features that support both passenger needs and internal operations.

Real-time flight information is delivered through a direct integration with the airport operational database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date flight schedules. Interactive wayfinding is supported through Atrius maps, helping passengers navigate the airport and explore shop and dine directories more easily.

Internal teams can now manage news, press releases and documents without relying on technical support, giving them more control over day-to-day content updates.

The result

The new platform improves how passengers access information and navigate the airport experience.

Relevant information is easier to find, the experience is clearer to use and the platform is built to perform consistently under high traffic conditions. For internal teams, content management is more efficient and less dependent on technical support.

The result is a more reliable and scalable digital foundation for Harry Reid International Airport. One that supports day-to-day operations, long-term growth and the airport’s role as the digital gateway to Las Vegas.

Let’s talk about connected airport experiences.
